South Mountain Road Study
The 2009 Plan of Conservation and Development identifies the 289-acre city owed South Mountain Road site, and the 37-area former NRG power plant site, as a potential area for mixed use development that will generate economic benefits for the City of Meriden. The POCD recommends that development plans maximize the retention of undisturbed open space and protect natural resources. The City of Meriden has completed two studies to explore the economic feasibility of developing the site, located off South Mountain Road to east of the Chamberlain Highway (Route 71) in Meriden, CT.
