To advance innovation and growth within our City, services are offered through the following departments.

Our Economic and Community Development Department serves as an active, ongoing support resource for businesses and others interested in doing business in Meriden. By collaborating with a local stakeholders in a variety of public and private sectors and partnering with aspiring and existing entrepreneurs and corporations, we promote growth and drive innovation for Meriden businesses can grow and thrive.

We assist with launching new businesses, attracting existing businesses to relocate to our city and encourage our current businesses to stay with tax incentives and grant opportunities available to those who qualify.

Services for Nonprofits

The City’s nonprofits play a pivotal role in maintaining the social fabric of our community. To support their ongoing service, the Community Development activities offer a number of grant opportunities to local nonprofits. Through the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the City offers funding through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program to support programs and services for local residents in need.
