Cleanup at 116 Cook Avenue

The former home of the International Silver Company, 116 Cook Avenue is a 2.8-acre City-owned site that includes a 72,773 square foot, 4-story vacant building. The City used a USEPA Brownfields Cleanup grant to remove an underground storage tank from the property and to remove approximately 200 tons of debris from the site in 2016.

The City of Meriden is currently applying for additional DECD grant funding to remediate and abate this site for purposes of residential redevelopment, following damage to the site by a fire that broke out in February of 2022.
